Getting in Context.

Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus looks up for the toughest races in the world (Le Mans, The 24 Hours of Nürburgring, The Baja) and designs vehicles to compete in those challenges. It is well known for their expertise in engineering, design, and technique. Due to our Off-Road video coverage experience, they found us to be the perfect fit for the challenging job – being their shadow for a 22 hour race and telling the story of how they transformed this special boot.

PREPRODUCTION

The SCG Boot is a modern high-performance homage to the Steve McQueen Baja Boot. It is an all-terrain platform capable of pre-running the Baja at speed and crawling through the rocks at Hammertown, exploring the backcountry roads in between. In 2019 we drove the Boot to Ensenada, raced the Baja 1000, beating the factory Ford Bronco by 280 miles, and then drove home.

Although we weren’t officially registered as racers, we sure experienced and went through all the ups and downs.

We got all the gear and equipment ready for the Ensenada race, a crew of 5 people, 22 hour race, although we weren’t officially registered as racers, we sure experienced and went through all the ups and downs.

We raced as the Boot’s shadow, following and recording it every step of the way. Imagine that! It was like chasing a light bolt.

PRODUCTION

The weather was not in our favor, one track was even changed at the last minute, but those who can’t adapt, can’t survive. We raced as the Boot’s shadow, following and recording it every step of the way. Imagine that! It was like chasing a light bolt. It was all worth it when the Glickenhaus Boot crossed the finish line, not only winning, but leaving his lifetime competitor the Ford Bronco waaaay back on the track.

Cinematography

The cinematography of this piece consists of glorious and open shots, showing the magnificence of Mexican landscapes, the same ones that the Glickenhaus Boot had to encounter while racing its rocky and challenging terrain. We also add this documentary perspective that takes us back to where it all started
